HAPPY NEW YEAR 2025
\ It's the Year of the Snake /
The snake is said to have been associated with goddess worship as a symbol of rebirth in the ancient world, as it grows by repeatedly shedding its skin.
Even in today's belly dance, there is a movement called "snake arm" that imitates a snake, but if you unravel the history of belly dance, you will see that it is deeply connected to "life".
Every time I dance belly dance, I feel like I am repeatedly shedding my skin like a snake and gaining the strength to live again and again. This year, I will dance with care, laugh, and work hard, with a sudden surge of luck.
Let's make 2025 a good year!
"𝐈 ❤︎ 𝐓𝐎𝐊𝐘𝐎 𝐇𝐀𝐅𝐋𝐀!" Project
Thank you for your support and report on the charity.
One year since the Noto Peninsula earthquake.
Last year, on New Year's Day, the Noto Peninsula earthquake occurred while I was visiting my hometown in Ishikawa Prefecture, and I started the year with a sad feeling. Also, there was very little I could do as an individual, so I spent the year with a heartbreaking feeling about my home town.
In order to lead to the recovery of the disaster-stricken areas so that the victims can have a vision for the future, it is still necessary to steadily rebuild their lives and livelihoods. We also need to know the fact that the recovery has not progressed at all.
Although it is really a small effort (but I thought it was better than doing nothing), I started a project to collect donations at an event I planned myself.
The "𝐈 ❤︎ 𝐓𝐎𝐊𝐘𝐎 𝐇𝐀𝐅𝐋𝐀!" project is a charity project to collect your "❤︎" little by little and deliver "❤︎" to the place and time when it is needed.
This time, the project sold goods for the first time at 𝗧𝗢𝗞𝗬𝗢 𝗛𝗔𝗙𝗟𝗔 𝘃𝗼𝗹.𝟰, held on December 21, 2024, and collected a lot of "❤︎" from visitors and online participants from Japan and abroad, and sales of T-shirts, postcards, and other items reached 𝟭𝟮𝟯,𝟬𝟱𝟬 yen!
While I was surprised by the amount, which was higher than I expected, I also felt a warmth, thinking that perhaps everyone was also looking for a way to “help.”
We are pleased to announce that the entire amount of the sales, 𝟭𝟮𝟯,𝟬𝟱𝟬 yen, was donated to the 2024 Noto Peninsula Earthquake Disaster Relief Fund through the Japanese Red Cross Society on December 26, 2024.
We are very grateful for everyone’s heartfelt donations and feelings. Thank you very much.
We would like to continue the activities of this “𝐈 ❤︎ 𝐓𝐎𝐊𝐘𝐎 𝐇𝐀𝐅𝐋𝐀!” project in the future.
Well. For the first work of 2025, we have selected 「STORM」from the song by Yoshida Brothers, Japan's proud Tsugaru shamisen artists, and presented it as a Japanese fusion belly dance piece choreographed by NADIA. We would like to share the choreography with everyone and dance together.
In this work, 「STORM」 the sound of the Tsugaru shamisen falls on the whole body like fierce, cold snow. Let's dance with the Japanese spirit of perseverance that does not give in to rain, snow, storms, or natural disasters, and let's start 2025 with a sudden rise in good fortune.
Please prepare the silk fan veils.
Possibly white color as we will dance with "snowing storm".
\ The new term starts on 1/8 (Wed) /

Now, looking back, this is the fifth Japanese fusion belly dance piece choreographed by NADIA. Japanese fusion has been presented once every three years.
■ 2012 - Matsuri 饗宴 music by Kitaro
■ 2015 - Gafuu 我風 music by Hiromitsu Agatsuma
■ 2018 - Sakura Sakura music by Rin'
■ 2021 - Ranka 乱華 music by Rin'
■ 2025 - Storm 嵐 music by Yoshida Brothers
When dancing with the theme of "Japanese," we always incorporate Japanese "nature" and "seasonal feeling" without even realizing it. Our cultural custom of appreciating flowers, birds, wind, and moon is the very essence of "Japaneseness," and since ancient times, Japanese artists have always incorporated expressions of appreciation of "nature" into their songs and dances, captivating people. Incorporating expressions of admiration of "nature" into dance is a concept that is not able to be seen in ballet, flamenco, nor belly dance, and I think it is unique to Japan.
I would also like to touch on the meaning of fusing "Japanese" with bellydance and the differences with Japanese dance, and pursue a new "elegant form" that overlaps the feminine expression unique to oriental dance. It would also be good to discuss the essence and characteristics of both in the lesson!
There are actually a certain number of Japanese fusion fans who are not attracted to Japanese traditional dance, but are extremely attracted to Japanese "fusion" in bellydance. I often receive messages from them on Instagram. I would like to know the reasons why everyone is attracted to it. For example, I love the process of something different coming together to create something new. The fun of fusion is also in the fact that it reveals the dancer's sense and creativity. If Japanese traditional dance is about inheriting classical dance forms that have been protected for hundreds of years and protecting traditions, then fusion is about internationally marrying dances from faraway countries to create new cultural styles.
It's a lot of fun to use your creativity to choose your costumes, but there are also some little tricks to show off "Japaneseness," such as how to match colors, how to use props, and detailed movements. I would like to share with you the world of Japanese fusion that NADIA creates.
Let's pursue the "Japaneseness" that is different from other Asian dances, including Chinese or Korean dances. Please look forward to the new "JAPANESE ORIENTAL FUSION" work!
